0261S05812 03C906027BA Engine Control Unit – IMMO OFF Plug & Play

Original Bosch MED17.5.5 engine control unit used in selected Volkswagen vehicles equipped with the 1.4 TSI 118 kW / 160 hp petrol engine. The ECU has been tested and prepared as an IMMO OFF Plug & Play unit, meaning that the immobiliser function within the engine ECU will not prevent the engine from starting.

Applications for ECU 03C906027BA

  • Volkswagen Golf VI hatchback 5K1, 1.4 TSI 160 hp, approx. 2008–2012,
  • Volkswagen Golf VI Variant AJ5, 1.4 TSI 160 hp estate, approx. 2009–2013,
  • Volkswagen Golf Plus 521, 1.4 TSI 160 hp, approx. 2009–2012,
  • Volkswagen Jetta 1K2 saloon, 1.4 TSI 160 hp, approx. 2008–2010,
  • Volkswagen Scirocco 137 coupé, 1.4 TSI 160 hp, approx. 2008–2012.

This ECU was fitted to selected 1.4 TSI versions, including vehicles with the CAVD engine code. Before purchasing, compare the complete Bosch number 0261S05812 and Volkswagen part number 03C906027BA with the references shown on your original ECU. Vehicle model, year and engine capacity alone are not sufficient to confirm compatibility.

Common symptoms of a faulty engine ECU

  • engine fails to start even though the starter motor operates correctly,
  • no control of the fuel injectors or ignition system,
  • difficult starting or unexpected engine stalling,
  • no diagnostic communication with the engine ECU,
  • irregular engine operation, limp mode or reduced power,
  • recurring throttle body, accelerator pedal or lambda sensor faults,
  • intermittent starting problems when the ECU becomes warm.

Similar symptoms may also be caused by faults in the vehicle wiring, sensors, power supply or other components. A complete vehicle diagnostic check is recommended before replacing the ECU.

Programming and ECU preparation

The ECU offered here is supplied as an IMMO OFF Plug & Play unit. Once compatibility has been confirmed, the replacement ECU does not need to be paired with the immobiliser or synchronised with the vehicle key. Install it in place of the original ECU, clear any stored fault codes and check that the vehicle operates correctly.

ECU cloning is also available on request. This service transfers the software, configuration and immobiliser data from the original ECU to a compatible replacement unit. Cloning is recommended when the customer wishes to retain the vehicle's original factory immobiliser configuration. Successful data recovery depends on the condition and extent of damage to the original ECU.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ECU 03C906027BA compatible with a VW Golf VI 1.4 TSI 160 hp?

ECU 03C906027BA was fitted to selected Volkswagen Golf VI 1.4 TSI 118 kW / 160 hp versions. Before ordering, compare Volkswagen part number 03C906027BA and Bosch number 0261S05812 with the references on your original ECU.

Is the Bosch MED17.5.5 0261S05812 ready to install as Plug & Play?

Yes. The ECU is supplied in an IMMO OFF Plug & Play configuration. Once the part numbers have been confirmed as compatible, it can be installed without programming the immobiliser or transferring key data.

Does an IMMO OFF ECU need immobiliser coding after installation in a VW Golf 6?

No. In the IMMO OFF configuration, the immobiliser function in the engine ECU is disabled, so the replacement ECU does not need to be paired with the key or synchronised with the immobiliser before the engine can be started.

Is ECU 03C 906 027 BA suitable for a VW Scirocco, Jetta or Golf Plus 1.4 TSI?

Part number 03C 906 027 BA was also used in selected Volkswagen Scirocco, Jetta, Golf Plus and Golf VI Variant models with the 1.4 TSI 160 hp engine. Compatibility should always be confirmed by comparing the complete part numbers with those on the original ECU.

Can a faulty Bosch MED17.5.5 0261S05812 ECU be cloned?

Yes, provided the memory and data in the original ECU can still be read correctly. Cloning allows the software, configuration and immobiliser data to be transferred to a compatible replacement ECU.
