51796241 MJD 6F3.P7 – Refurbished Engine ECU for Fiat Grande Punto

This engine control unit has been prepared in Virgin Plug & Play condition. It is designed to replace a faulty original ECU in a compatible vehicle with a properly functioning immobiliser system.

Vehicle Compatibility

  • Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 MultiJet 75 HP – selected versions.

Before purchasing, compare part number 51796241, ECU type MJD 6F3.P7 and reference 71600.019.06 with the identification label on your original unit. The vehicle model and engine size alone are not sufficient to confirm compatibility. If the numbers differ, please send us a photo of the original ECU label so we can check compatibility.

Possible Symptoms of a Faulty Engine ECU

  • No communication with the ECU during diagnostics.
  • The engine fails to start or stalls while running.
  • Intermittent starting problems.
  • Recurring fault codes relating to circuits controlled by the ECU.

These symptoms may also be caused by other faults. Before replacing the ECU, check the power supply, earth connections, fuses, connectors and vehicle wiring.

ECU Preparation and Programming

The ECU has been refurbished and prepared in Virgin Plug & Play condition. Once installed in a compatible vehicle with a functioning immobiliser system, it should automatically adapt to the vehicle. This is not an IMMO OFF version – the immobiliser remains active.

You do not need to send us your original ECU to install this version. ECU cloning is a separate service that requires the original unit and the ability to read its data. If the vehicle has an immobiliser fault or differences in its configuration, additional diagnostics or coding may be necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ECU 51796241 compatible with every Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 MultiJet?

No. It is suitable for selected versions only. Compatibility must be confirmed using the identification numbers on the original ECU, rather than the vehicle model and engine type alone.

Does the MJD 6F3.P7 ECU need to be programmed to the immobiliser?

The supplied ECU is prepared in Virgin condition. In a compatible vehicle with a properly functioning immobiliser, it should automatically adapt after installation.

Is reference number 71600.019.06 enough to identify the correct ECU?

You should also compare OEM part number 51796241 and ECU type MJD 6F3.P7. If any references differ, we recommend checking the complete identification label on the original ECU.

Do I need to send my original ECU for the Virgin Plug & Play version?

No. The original ECU is only required if you choose our ECU cloning service.

What should I check if my Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 cannot communicate with the ECU?

Check the ECU power supply and earth connections, fuses, connectors and communication wiring. A lack of diagnostic communication does not necessarily mean the ECU itself is faulty.

Why Do Engine ECU and Vehicle Electronics Faults Occur in Winter?

ABS and ESP warning lights and the engine management light coming on after a cold night do not necessarily mean that a control unit has failed. Voltage drops, a discharged or ageing battery, moisture or water entering the vehicle’s electronic modules may be the cause.

In this ECUSale guide, we look at problems affecting engine ECUs in the Audi Q7 and Opel Corsa D 1.3 CDTI, as well as Volkswagen ABS pumps. We also explain how to recognise a water-damaged control module and what to check before replacing it.
