Choosing the ISM module – A1644460310 and A2C53115423

A used, original ISM module (Siemens VDO) working with the 7G-Tronic 722.9 gearbox. This is the VIRGIN version – clean and reset, ready for programming. The bench test is done before every dispatch.

Programming and cloning

Programming takes two stages: first the positioner (selector) is calibrated, then the ISM module is adapted to the gearbox and the car. Instead of programming we can clone the data from your old module – cloning is included in the price.

Other ISM modules in stock

ISM modules with other numbers – the number on your label decides: A1644460410, A0044460310, A0002701952, A0002703252.

When to suspect the ISM module?

The most common symptoms:

  • the gearbox goes into limp mode,
  • gearbox fault message,
  • the gearbox does not respond when D or R is selected.

Before you order, run a diagnosis – the selector, wiring and the gearbox control unit (VGS) can behave in a similar way.

Compatibility with the car

The number starts with 164 – in Mercedes-Benz numbering this is the ML W164 / GL X164 series the module was developed for. What matters are the codes on the label of your module: A1644460310 and A2C53115423. In the Mercedes-Benz catalogue, number A1644460310 is superseded by A0002701852 – we stock that module too: A0002701852.

Numbers to compare with your label

We list the numbers in several formats – the way they are printed on labels and typed into search engines.

Warranty

The warranty on this module is 6 months. You will find the other gearbox control units in the category Mercedes-Benz Transmission Control Units (TCU). Questions about choosing the number? Contact us.

Why Do Engine ECU and Vehicle Electronics Faults Occur in Winter?

ABS and ESP warning lights and the engine management light coming on after a cold night do not necessarily mean that a control unit has failed. Voltage drops, a discharged or ageing battery, moisture or water entering the vehicle’s electronic modules may be the cause.

In this ECUSale guide, we look at problems affecting engine ECUs in the Audi Q7 and Opel Corsa D 1.3 CDTI, as well as Volkswagen ABS pumps. We also explain how to recognise a water-damaged control module and what to check before replacing it.
