Opel Engine Control Units – VIRGIN ECUs and PIN Code Options

Magneti Marelli, Denso, Delphi and Siemens ECUs for Opel

We supply used Opel engine control units, checked before dispatch, for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. The largest groups are Magneti Marelli units for the Corsa D, Meriva and Combo 1.3 CDTI, Denso units for the Astra H, Zafira B, Astra J and Corsa D 1.7 CDTI, Delphi MT35E modules for 1.6 16V petrol engines and Siemens units for 1.8 16V engines. The range also includes Delco HSFI modules for the Corsa C and Meriva and Bosch units, for example for the Vectra C and Signum 3.2 V6.

How to choose the right Opel engine ECU

The most reliable method is to compare the full numbers on the label of your original unit. Before ordering, check:

• the Opel/GM number including the letter suffix, e.g. 55568379 KU or 12230740 DTXW,
• the manufacturer reference, e.g. Denso MB275800-8126, Siemens 5WK9153 or Magneti Marelli MJD603.S3,
• the hardware designation, e.g. HW03A or HW04D, if shown on the label,
• the engine code and capacity, e.g. Z13DTJ, Z13DTH, Z18XE or Z32SE, and the gearbox type,
• the preparation stated in the offer: VIRGIN, with PIN code or IMMO OFF.

On Opel vehicles the letters at the end of the GM number matter. The same base number exists in several versions – our range includes 12230740 units marked DTXW, DZFR, DZLR, FAHF and FCCY – which may carry different software. The VIN helps identify the vehicle version, but it does not replace the number on the ECU label.

Refurbished Opel Corsa D 1.3 CDTI ECUs

More than 30 units in this category are Magneti Marelli ECUs for 1.3 CDTI engines (Z13DTJ, Z13DTH) – mainly for the Corsa D, but also for the Meriva and Combo. The product descriptions state what the refurbishment covers, such as sandblasting of the housing, a new protective coating and sealing against moisture. MJD603.S3 units for the Corsa D are grouped in the Corsa D 1.3 CDTI HW03A collection. The same HW03A marking does not make units interchangeable – always compare the full GM number with its suffix.

Opel models with PSA, Fiat and Renault engines

The category also covers Opel models with engines from other groups: Bosch EDC17C60 units for the 1.6 BlueHDi (including Combo, Crossland X and Grandland X) in IMMO OFF version, MJD8F3 units for the Opel Combo and Fiat Doblo 1.3, and a new Bosch EDC16C41 unit 0281013806 for the Movano 3.0 CDTI. VIRGIN, PIN code (Car Pass) and programming

Most Opel ECUs in our range are supplied as VIRGIN. This means the previous vehicle's immobiliser data has been removed and the unit is ready to be assigned to your car. VIRGIN is not Plug & Play, however – adaptation is required after installation.

• Adaptation – on supported systems it is carried out with Tech-2 or OP-COM; the vehicle's security code from the Car Pass is usually required.
• Units with PIN code – some offers include a PIN code supplied with the ECU; details are given in the product description.
• IMMO OFF – available only for selected units, e.g. Bosch EDC17C60 with PSA engines, not across the whole Opel range.
• Cloning – transfer of data from the old ECU to a compatible replacement; the original unit must still be readable.

Before ordering, make sure your workshop has suitable equipment and the vehicle's Car Pass code.

Symptoms of a faulty engine ECU

The most commonly reported problems are: the engine cranks but does not start, no diagnostic communication with the ECU, engine cut-outs, limp mode, immobiliser errors and moisture or corrosion on the connectors. The same symptoms can also come from sensors, wiring, power supply or earth connections, so we recommend a vehicle diagnosis before buying. Every ECU is bench-tested before dispatch – connected to a power supply and diagnostic tools outside the vehicle. Testing the unit does not replace a diagnosis of your car.
