Peugeot calls its automated manual gearboxes 2-Tronic (5-speed, older models) and ETG6 (6-speed, newer models). We offer control units for the Peugeot 1007, 207 and Bipper (Siemens VDO / Continental), for the 3008, 5008 and 508 (Magneti Marelli BC) and for the Partner II with the 6-speed MCP gearbox and the 1.6 BlueHDi engine. Engine control units can be found in the Peugeot engine control units category.

How to choose a Peugeot gearbox control unit

  • 2-Tronic – control unit number S1xxxxxxxx with a letter (e.g. S120217001C), SW96xxxxxx80, HW96xxxxxx80 and type SIM82 / SIM821 / SIM824,
  • ETG6 – PSA number 96xxxxxx80 and the Magneti Marelli BC.xxxxxxx code with a letter,
  • MCP (Partner II) – PSA number 98xxxxxx80 and the Magneti Marelli CFC410P code.

Check the whole number, including the suffix. Example: S120217001C and S120217001D are two different control units for the Peugeot 1007 with different SW numbers.

Does the control unit need programming?

Magneti Marelli BC (ETG6) and CFC410P (MCP) units do not require programming – with the same numbers on the label, they work once connected. For 2-Tronic units, ask us about your specific number.

Symptoms of a 2-Tronic, ETG6 or MCP gearbox fault

  • unable to engage a gear or the gearbox stays in neutral,
  • jerking when pulling away and changing gear,
  • gearbox fault message, limp mode,
  • no communication with the gearbox control unit.

Similar symptoms can also be caused by the clutch or gear-shift actuator and by low battery voltage – have the system diagnosed before you buy.

What is the 2-Tronic gearbox? It is Peugeot's name for its 5-speed automated manual gearbox (called SensoDrive at Citroën). The control units are Siemens VDO / Continental SIM82, SIM821 or SIM824.
Does an ETG6 or MCP control unit need programming? No. With the same numbers on the label, the unit works once connected, without programming.
Will a Citroën control unit fit a Peugeot? Some Marelli units are used in both brands, e.g. 9674693580 and 9666987680. The number on the label decides.
Which numbers should I compare on a 1007? The S1xxxxxxxx number with the letter at the end, plus the SW and HW numbers. S120217001C and S120217001D are different control units.
Are the control units tested? Yes, every control unit is bench-tested before dispatch.
