Opel Corsa D 1.3 CDTI HW03A Engine ECUs
This collection contains Opel Corsa D 1.3 CDTI engine ECUs with Magneti Marelli MJD 603 electronics (HW03A hardware, various software versions). The modules are tested and prepared in VIRGIN condition so that they can be programmed and assigned to another compatible vehicle.
VIRGIN means that the immobiliser data and the Car Pass code of the previous vehicle have been removed. It does not mean that the ECU will operate immediately after being connected. After installation, it is programmed in the vehicle like a new unit using Tech-2, OP-COM or another compatible diagnostic tool.
During the correct adaptation procedure, the engine ECU is assigned to the vehicle’s immobiliser system, keys and related electronic modules. Once the procedure has been completed, the appropriate equipment variants should be configured and all stored fault codes cleared.
What does a VIRGIN ECU mean?
A VIRGIN ECU no longer contains the active security data of the previous vehicle. The module retains the correct engine-management software but is prepared for assignment to another compatible car.
- the previous vehicle’s immobiliser data and Car Pass code have been removed,
- the ECU is ready to be programmed in the vehicle,
- the electronics have never been repaired and the housing is refurbished,
- programming is carried out using Tech-2, OP-COM or compatible diagnostic equipment.
VIRGIN does not mean IMMO OFF. The immobiliser remains active and continues to protect the vehicle. The ECU must be correctly assigned to the vehicle’s security system.
Is the previous car’s Car Pass needed?
No. The ECU is cleared of the previous vehicle’s Car Pass code, so you do not need any data from the car it came from. After installation it is programmed like a new unit with Tech-2 or OP-COM. Simply installing the ECU without programming it will not start the engine.
How to select the correct Opel Corsa D HW03A ECU
An ECU must not be selected solely by vehicle model, production year, engine power or the appearance of its housing. Different hardware and software versions of Magneti Marelli ECUs were used in the Opel Corsa D 1.3 CDTI.
The number on the label of the old ECU matters most. Before ordering, check:

A similar number or identical-looking housing does not confirm compatibility. Each ECU must be matched to the correct engine, hardware and software version.
Programming with Tech-2 or OP-COM
After installing the VIRGIN ECU, it must be programmed according to the procedure specified for the Opel Corsa D. A working Tech-2 or OP-COM diagnostic interface is required.
The basic procedure includes:
- installing an ECU with compatible part numbers,
- connecting a stable power supply or using a fully charged battery,
- connecting to the vehicle with Tech-2 or OP-COM,
- programming or adapting the engine ECU,
- configuring the vehicle equipment variants where required,
- clearing fault codes and checking communication with all modules.
The vehicle voltage must remain stable throughout programming. An interruption caused by low battery voltage may result in incomplete data being stored and the ECU requiring another VIRGIN reset.
Common symptoms of Opel Corsa D ECU failure
A damaged MJD 603 ECU may cause:
- a complete no-start condition,
- loss of diagnostic communication with the ECU,
- CAN communication faults,
- intermittent engine stalling,
- injection-system faults,
- limp mode and reduced engine power,
- intermittent sensor or power-supply fault codes,
- immobiliser faults and no start authorisation.
These symptoms do not always prove that the ECU is defective. Before replacing it, check the battery, ECU power supplies, grounds, fuses, relays, wiring, CAN communication and communication with the BCM and immobiliser system.
Moisture and corrosion damage
In the Opel Corsa D the ECU sits under the windscreen cowl and is exposed to water, moisture and road salt. When the drains clog, water can flood the ECU, and corrosion of the housing or moisture inside can damage the electronic board, tracks and connector pins.
The refurbished housing is protected against water but is not waterproof. Before installing another ECU, identify and repair the source of the moisture. Check the drainage system, protective covers, ECU mounting position and wiring connectors. Installing a replacement module without correcting the original fault may damage the replacement ECU.

- inspection of the housing and connectors,
- refurbishing the housing and protecting it against water,
- checking the electronics for moisture and corrosion,

- performing a final test before dispatch.

Cloning the data is included in the price of the ECU. For this model we need the EEPROM, FLASH and MPC data from your old ECU. Send us the files or the complete old ECU and we will prepare the unit with your data. Whether cloning is possible depends on the condition of the original ECU and the quality of the data read.
