Lancia Ypsilon 1.3 ECU engine controllers
A large part of the current range consists of engine control units for the Lancia Ypsilon 1.3 JTD and 1.3 Multijet. Several controller families and software variants were used in these vehicles, including MJD6F3 and MJD8F3.
The engine size and model name alone do not confirm compatibility. Controllers that look identical may contain different software, immobiliser data or vehicle configuration.
MJD6F3 ECU for Lancia Ypsilon 1.3
The MJD6F3 family includes several Ypsilon-specific variants, such as MJD6F3.Y1, MJD6F3.Y2, MJD6F3.Y3 and MJD6F3.Y5. Current examples include controllers with OEM numbers 51795235, 51805375, 51806500, 51806503, 51812864 and 51825023.
The suffix following MJD6F3 is an important part of the controller identification. For example, MJD6F3.Y1 and MJD6F3.Y2 should not be treated as automatically interchangeable. The complete Lancia or Fiat OEM number, hardware version and software identification must also be checked.
MJD8F3.Y1 for Lancia Ypsilon 1.3 JTD and Multijet

9GF.TG ECU for Lancia Ypsilon 1.2 8V
Petrol-powered versions of the Ypsilon use different controller families. One example is the 52110108 9GF.TG engine ECU for Lancia Ypsilon 1.2 8V Euro 6, supplied as a Virgin Plug & Play module.
Other 9GF variants may have similar housings and connectors but different software or configuration. Always compare the full OEM number and the complete 9GF designation.

Lancia Delta 1.6 JTD Bosch ECU
Selected Lancia Delta diesel models use Bosch engine controllers. The current range includes the 51828290 / Bosch 0281014569 ECU for Lancia Delta 1.6 JTD, prepared as a Virgin Plug & Play module.
A Bosch number may appear with different vehicle manufacturer references. Both the Bosch number and the Lancia or Fiat OEM number should therefore be compared with the original controller.

Lancia Musa ECU engine controllers
The Lancia Musa shares part of its mechanical and electronic architecture with selected Fiat models, but controllers should never be selected solely because they have the same connectors or belong to the same general ECU family.
MJD6F3.M3 for Lancia Musa 1.3
The 51816274 MJD6F3.M3 controller is used in selected Fiat Idea and Lancia Musa 1.3 applications. The M3 suffix distinguishes it from the Ypsilon-specific MJD6F3.Y variants and must be included when checking compatibility.
MJD8F2.I2 for Lancia Musa 1.9 JTD
For selected diesel versions, ECUSale offers the 51872449 MJD8F2.I2 ECU for Lancia Musa 1.9 JTD. This controller is supplied as a Virgin Plug & Play unit.
Shared Fiat and Lancia engine controllers
Lancia and Fiat vehicles frequently share engines, platforms and electronic components. As a result, some controllers may carry Fiat Group, FPT, Magneti Marelli or Bosch identification and may be listed for more than one vehicle model.
This does not mean that every physically identical module is interchangeable. Differences may include immobiliser data, emissions software, gearbox configuration, injector settings and optional equipment.
If the required controller is also used in a Fiat vehicle, you can check the Fiat ECU engine controller category. Compatibility must still be confirmed from the complete numbers on the original ECU.
How to select the correct Lancia ECU
The safest way to identify a replacement is to compare all information printed on the original ECU label. Model, year, engine capacity and power are useful, but they are not sufficient on their own.
Before ordering, compare:
- the complete Lancia or Fiat OEM number,
- the manufacturer number, such as Bosch or FPT,
- the complete ECU family and suffix,
- hardware and software references,
- engine type, capacity and power output,
- emissions standard,
- manual, automatic or automated gearbox configuration,
- vehicle equipment and Start-Stop specification.
The VIN helps identify the vehicle, but it does not replace the numbers taken directly from the original engine controller.
How does a Virgin Lancia ECU work?
A Virgin ECU has been cleared of the previous vehicle’s immobiliser and identification data. In many compatible Fiat and Lancia systems, a correctly prepared Virgin controller can learn the required immobiliser information from the vehicle’s Body Computer during its first installation.
The exact procedure depends on the controller and vehicle. Additional operations such as PROXI alignment, injector coding or configuration of the gearbox and optional equipment may still be required.
Once the module has completed its first pairing, it is no longer Virgin. It should therefore not be installed for testing in another vehicle. A stable battery voltage must be maintained during installation and initial configuration.
Lancia Plug & Play ECU and cloning
A Plug & Play ECU is prepared for a specific application to reduce the work required after installation. The exact preparation included is stated in the individual product description.
Depending on the controller, preparing a personalised replacement may require the original ECU or memory files such as EEPROM, FLASH or microprocessor data.
Cloning transfers compatible data from the original controller to a replacement module. Where a complete read is possible, this may preserve the immobiliser information, VIN, engine software and vehicle configuration.
Lancia ECU IMMO OFF
IMMO OFF means that immobiliser authorisation is disabled in a compatible engine controller. This option is available only for selected ECU families and must be confirmed before purchase.
Depending on the vehicle, an immobiliser warning or fault may remain stored in another control module even if the engine starts and operates correctly. The individual product description should always be checked to determine which preparation options are available.
Common symptoms of a faulty Lancia ECU
- the engine does not start or starts intermittently,
- no diagnostic communication with the engine controller,
- unexpected stalling while driving,
- limp mode or reduced engine power,
- injector, ignition, turbocharger, EGR or DPF faults,
- immobiliser or CAN communication errors,
- damage caused by water, corrosion or oil contamination,
- failure after a short circuit, voltage surge or incorrect battery connection,
- no-start condition following interrupted ECU programming.
These symptoms do not prove that the engine controller itself is defective. Similar problems may be caused by wiring, poor power or earth connections, sensors, relays, fuses, the Body Computer or another control module. The vehicle should be properly diagnosed before an ECU is ordered.

Does a replacement Lancia ECU need identical numbers?
The safest option is an ECU with the same OEM number, manufacturer number and controller family as the original. Some alternative numbers may be compatible, but this must be confirmed before purchase.
Will a used Lancia ECU work when connected?
An ordinary used controller normally contains immobiliser and configuration data from its previous vehicle. It may therefore prevent the engine from starting unless it has been prepared as Virgin, personalised, cloned or, where supported, IMMO OFF.
Will a Virgin Lancia ECU programme itself?
In many compatible Fiat and Lancia systems, a correctly prepared Virgin ECU can learn immobiliser information from the Body Computer during its first installation. Additional coding or PROXI alignment may still be required depending on the vehicle and controller.
What ECU is fitted to the Lancia Ypsilon 1.3?
Depending on the year and engine version, the Ypsilon 1.3 may use controllers such as MJD6F3 or MJD8F3. The complete suffix and OEM number must be checked because several different variants were fitted.
Are MJD6F3.Y1 and MJD6F3.Y2 interchangeable?

Can a Fiat ECU be used in a Lancia?
