The Q7 4.2 TDI uses a pair of ECUs: master (horizontal) and slave (vertical), both numbered 0281018825. If you are looking for a replacement, it is most likely the master. It is the one exposed to water that enters under the scuttle panel from the wipers and reaches the housing along a sensor cable. Slave failures are only occasional.
Vehicle compatibility
Before ordering, compare both numbers – 0281018825 and 4L0910409M – with the sticker on the housing. Your model missing from the list rules nothing out, but a different number, e.g. 0281031081, means a different program. EDC16CP34 ECUs from other Q7 4.2 TDI cars (e.g. 0281013013) are a separate group.
