This unit fits an Audi Q7 4L 3.0 TDI that left the factory with ECU 0281016832 / 4L1910401H. Before ordering, compare both numbers with the sticker on the housing – your model missing from the list rules nothing out, but a different number, e.g. 0281016433, means different software. EDC16CP34 units from earlier Q7s (e.g. 0281013691) are a separate group.
Preparation and installation
Important on EDC17: the IMMO OFF version lets the Q7 start without programming, but the immobiliser fault is stored permanently. A cluster with the large screen shows the message SAFE; the smaller one shows no message. The solution is an immobiliser adaptation at a workshop or our data cloning from your current ECU, at no extra cost. Optional paid services: DPF OFF, EGR OFF, FLAPS OFF and chip tuning.
Symptoms of a failed ECU in the Q7
A typical cause of failure in the Q7 is water from the scuttle area where the ECU is mounted. Signs of damage include:
- no communication with the ECU during diagnostics
- CAN bus faults and errors in several modules at once
- the radiator fans run constantly with the ignition on
