0281015165 / 4L0910409D set – master and slave for the Audi Q7 4.2 TDI
This is the set for anyone who does not want the ECU programmed at a workshop: a pair of Bosch EDC16CP34 units numbered 0281015165 / 4L0910409D – master and slave – in an IMMO OFF version that runs without errors. Every set is checked before dispatch; the warranty is 6 months.

Installation: master horizontal, slave vertical
You will find MASTER and SLAVE markings on the housings. The master goes in the horizontal position, the slave in the vertical one; swapping them causes starting problems. Fit both ECUs from the set at the same time – the IMMO OFF version requires replacing the whole pair.
Important: do not update the ECUs
At every workshop visit, point out that the engine ECUs are IMMO OFF versions and must not be updated. A software update switches IMMO OFF off and restores the factory immobiliser lock.

Compare Bosch number 0281015165 and Audi number 4L0910409D with the label on your ECU – if they match, the set fits. EDC17CP44 ECUs from later Q7 4.2 TDI cars (e.g. 0281031081) are a different group, for which we do not offer an IMMO OFF set. Symptoms of a failed ECU in the Q7 4.2 TDI
The master sits horizontally under the scuttle panel, which is why it is the one that usually fails after water ingress. Typical symptoms:
- no diagnostic communication with one of the ECUs
- rough engine running
- immobiliser fault codes
- synchronisation faults between master and slave
