How to select the correct SID208 ECU

• OEM part number, for example 9691519780,
• the exact ECU hardware and software version,
• the vehicle model, engine version, production year and equipment.

Part numbers ending with a different letter may contain different software or vehicle configurations. The SID208 designation alone is not sufficient to confirm compatibility. If you are unsure, send us a clear photograph of the complete original ECU label before ordering.

How does a SID208 VIRGIN Plug & Play ECU work?

A VIRGIN ECU has its immobiliser data cleared and is prepared for its first assignment to a compatible vehicle. Once correctly installed in a Peugeot Boxer or Citroën Jumper, it receives the required immobiliser information from the BSI system.

The first start should be performed with a healthy, fully charged battery. The vehicle key, BSI module, ECU power supplies, grounds and CAN communication must also be working correctly. Common symptoms of SID208 ECU failure

An engine ECU fault can cause several different symptoms, although these do not always prove that the ECU itself is defective. Common symptoms include:

• engine starting difficulties or a complete no-start condition,
• no diagnostic communication with the ECU,
• CAN communication faults,
• intermittent engine stalling,
• the engine entering limp mode,
• power supply or injection-system faults,
• multiple or intermittent sensor fault codes,
• communication problems between the ECU and BSI module.

Similar symptoms may be caused by damaged wiring, a weak battery, poor grounds, defective fuses or relays, or a fault in the BSI module. The vehicle should therefore be properly diagnosed before the engine ECU is replaced.

Water and moisture damage in SID208 ECUs

Continental SID208 engine ECUs may be exposed to water or moisture. Water entering the housing can cause corrosion of the circuit board, damaged electrical connections, loss of diagnostic communication or complete vehicle immobilisation.

Before fitting another ECU, the source of the water ingress must be identified and repaired. Installing a replacement unit without correcting the leak may result in the new ECU being damaged again.
